Continuing with our celebration of apprenticeships. We asked former business admin apprentice, turned admin assistant, Sophie about her Fabdec apprenticeship.

Sophie did her apprenticeship with us four years ago and is still a member of the administration team today.

 

What were you doing before you started your apprenticeship with Fabdec?

I was doing barbering and really wanted a career change.

 

What made you choose an apprenticeship?

Thought it was the best place to start in order to gain a new qualification and to start a different career.

 

How have you found your apprenticeship at Fabdec?

It was good, I learned new skills and gained a new qualification, which progressed me onto full-time employment here at Fabdec.

 

How has the support and guidance you received whilst completing your apprenticeship been?

The support was good, I was paired with a colleague who mentored me and showed me what I needed to do.

 

How did you hear about the apprenticeship opportunity here at Fabdec?

I found it on a job advertisement page and applied.

 

What part of the apprenticeship did you most enjoy?

When I passed my qualification. It gave me a good feeling of personal achievement.

 

What has been a highlight of your role?

Networking with other departments and seeing how many different job ranges one firm can have.

 

What have you learned most about during your time at Fabdec?

I have learned the daily operations of an administrator for a business I have also gained several business fundamentals relevant within the industry.

 

What advice would you give to others looking to start an apprenticeship?

It’s a great way to begin a career, also if you want a career change then an apprenticeship is a great place to start. So definitely consider it.
