What Are Pillow Plates?
Pillow plates are stainless steel heat transfer plates used to heat or cool within industrial systems. They are made from two sheets of stainless steel that are welded together in a controlled pattern. The plate is then inflated to create internal channels. These channels allow water, glycol, refrigerant or another thermal medium to flow through the plate.
The inflated design gives pillow plates their distinctive raised surface. It also creates a large heat transfer area within a compact space. As the thermal medium moves through the plate, heat is transferred between the plate surface and the surrounding product, liquid or air. This makes pillow plates useful for process vessels, falling film chillers, heat recovery systems, immersion cooling and other temperature control applications.
